Biology is becoming an engineering discipline, but the bottleneck has moved from discovery to reproducibility and scale. We look for work where a measurable biological result can survive a change of operator, reagent lot and facility — because that is the point at which a partner can commit capital to it.

About the name
Exothropic is a coined, science-styled name rather than an established scientific term. It is built to sound as though it belongs in a research setting while carrying no existing technical definition — a deliberate choice for a company whose work spans several fields.
The exo- element reads as outward, beyond, external: exoskeleton, exoplanet, exothermic. The -thropic ending gives it the cadence of a scientific adjective, the way phototropic or allotropic do. Together they suggest a turn outward — exploration past the edge of what is currently established, which is exactly where translation work happens.
Practically, a coined name is easier to own. It is distinctive, unlikely to collide with existing terminology, and it does not pin the brand to a single technology as a descriptive name would.
